Personally I think they are as bad as each other, with different national traits adding only further unsavoury local twists, but here's an interesting transatlantic discussion of our media options:

To be sure, it resonates with its description of a political and media elite here who seem to think they know better than the people. Not being supported greatly by recent elections, I mght add.
