Complementing Junkk Male RE:view, this blog is even more personal, acting as an archive for more 'general' off-topic comments that could often stretch its remit. I’ll leave readers to guess the origins of the name, whilst confessing right away to (too) often tilting at windmills. Coincidentally, checking the translation online, a Spanish Donkey is also an instrument of torture! I just happened to name mine ‘Hotay’.

Need to know
Jeremy Paxman, the BBC, Impartiality, and Freedom of Information
The workings, or not, of the FOI act seem convoluted at best.
Though pertinent in many ways to Junkk Male RE:view this is more about how our news gets served up. I am always intrigued as to who constitutes an 'expert', and what goes into getting the best chance of an objective opinion from any source.
And finally, the curse of the over-common moniker strikes again. Yet another namesake!
Whatever else, in this information rich, Internet age, I would hazard that clamming up, especially on issues where you are required to be open, is not the smartest play. Mind you, if you do have something to hide you are screwed both ways. Best not to do things using public money, in the public's 'best interests', if you don't think the public might react well to hearing about it.

I believe in freedom of speech. But I also don't like bullies on blogs, even verbal ones, as they can drive away those with something valid to say... or offer.
Subjective is fine, but well argued and substantiated is even better. Calm and polite tops. Anything that crosses my personal line will not go up. There may be reasons given, but not guaranteed.
I'm not too keen on 'Anon' as a handle (and the content usually explains why), so if that's what you opt for it may not make it. Sorry.
Thanks for the link Peter.
